ERIC CLAPTON'S CAREER BEGAN....

In England...as a child Eric spend most of his free time playing the guitar, and joined a number of English blues bands. It wasn't until he joined the Yardbirds in Surrey England (1963) that he made a name for himself.

CURRENT STATUS

Eric Clapton is actively recording, touring and promoting his Antigua based Crossroads Center for the treatment and education of chemically dependent persons and those with other compulsive addictive behaviors.

The European tour wrapped up in Royal Albert Hall in London England May 11, 2004.

Eric capped off his 2004 US tour to promote his latest album release Me And Mr Johnson with a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on August 2, 2004.

ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

Eric Clapton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the unprecedented third time when he was honored for his solo career during the Fifteenth Annual Induction Ceremony, held on March 6, 2000 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

Robbie Robertson (The Hawks, The Band) was his presenter. Previously, Clapton had been inducted as a member of both the Yardbirds and Cream.
