If you are in a hurry check out the following Led Zeppelin Discography and Fact Sheet created to give you a quick overview of the band's music and career

LED ZEPPELIN FOUNDED....

By Jimmy Page... July of 1968... in England

After everyone except Jimmy quit the innovative Yardbirds in 1968 he found himself scrambling to sign up new band members to fulfill the Yardbirds booked concert dates. Having done that, the revived group called themselves the New Yardbirds first and then changed the name to Led Zeppelin.

CURRENT (OR FINAL) GROUP MEMBERS

The original group members remained together until the alcohol related death of John Bonham on September 25, 1980. They claimed they couldn't go on together without the support of their friend and drummer. Led Zeppelin disbanded in December 1980.

CURRENT STATUS

Following the breakup, the remaining members of Led Zeppelin all began and continue to pursue solo careers, reuniting periodically for promotional recordings, reunion and charity performances.

John Paul Jones returned to music production and arrangement and eventually released a well received debut album titled Zooma in 1999.

Jimmy Page kept busy recording the soundtrack for Death Wish II, compiling the Coda outtakes collection in 1982 and remastering the band's catalog for release of the 1990 box set Led Zeppelin. The 10 disc boxset of The Complete Studio Recordings followed 3 years later. Page toured briefly with the Black Crowes.

Robert Plant began a solo career with the Pictures at Eleven album. In 1995 Page and Plant began a world tour that resulted in a new recording, Walking Into Clarksdale.
