JIMI HENDRIX'S CAREER BEGAN....

In New York....after years of playing backup guitar and doing session work Jimi was "discovered" by Animals bassist Chas Chandler who convinced Hendrix to move to London England to begin a solo career. Chandler built a recording group around the talented Hendrix featuring Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums. This new trio became the Jimi Hendrix Experience and released the hit album Are You Experienced in 1967 producing the top 10 tracks Hey Joe, purple Haze and The Wind Cries Mary.

Hendrix died in his sleep on September 18, 1970 at the Samarkand Hotel in London. He was 27. The cause of death was vomit inhalation during a barbiturate induced coma. His body now rests in the Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, Washington in a family plot.
